Hips don’t lie. And, Data too..

Sex is one of the frequently searched terms on the internet. I remember hearing this from folks who are in online advertising, SEO (Search Engine Optimization) industries and reading a few articles on how internet is used by audience on Sex related information.

Since the release of Google Video, You Tube and the like, I have been expecting rampant use of these sites to view/download pornographic materials. But, Google Video had given me a different perspective.  Video.Google.Com has a list of items that are aggregated basis the number of searches and presented in descending order -  The ‘Top-100′ link right below search text box, doesn’t seem to be inundated with a list of pornographic links. And, the items I have been finding consistent since the last couple of weeks are

A) Steve Irvin Stingray Extreme
B) Shakira – Hips Don’t Like

If World Wide Web is used heavily for searching pornographic videos and pictures, the video sites should top the list of origin of such searches. But, the statistics of Google Video seemingly suggests something else.

Assuming Google is not withholding statistics on pornography access, like Shakira says about Hips, hopefully the statistics/data on this do not lie either. It is good to know some dynamics are changing on the Internet. Reduced use of cyberspace for Sex is definitely one of the good items to mention.
