The rich may be different, as the saying goes, but the richly creative are different still. Just what goes on inside the head of an artist or a poet, however, is a mystery.
Now, however, researchers from the University of California at Berkeley have learned a little about what went on inside the heads of some of the more creative artists and poets the world has known.
The researchers have identified the mechanism by which absinthe, the liqueur of choice for the likes of van Gogh, Rimbaud, Baudelaire, Toulouse-Lautrec and others – …

Headlines Today, one of the recent entrant to English News (Television channels) in India. Till a few months ago, it was a good and decent choice for audience looking for simple news headlines. Not too sure, if they were bit but some strange bug to stray away from News Headlines to Page-3 Gossip Headlines.
In the last few days, whenever I flipped to Page3-Gossip-Today (erstwhile Headlines Today), I get to see
Who is going around with who, Why the relationship wouldn’t work (Damn!!) two chosen people of any particular day
Which of the …

We often hear corporations talk about its social responsibilities, young folks standing in street corners trying to make us participate in a large social responsibility by paying some funds et al. We all have witnessed something similar to these kind of activities sometime or the other in our lives.
I have encountered a couple of cases which were rather startling.
Just Around the Corner, one of the outlets of MARS group of restaurants in Mumbai used to stack-up the bill amount by INR 5.00 and expect the consumer to pay, most often …

My feed reader this morning updated the link for Guy Kawasaki, as usual there was yet another interesting note from him.
If I were to reproduce the essence of the post without giving too much of importance to the Verbatim, he talks about using Disruption techniques to gain momentum or value in any endeavor. Though his post was in connection with the Venture Capitalists industry, think it’s wise to extend its reach beyond the VC horizon.
Any responder to a stimulus has some sort of idea about the stimulus (most of the time …

Over a couple of years ago, remember one of my friends saying “The role of advertising should not be misunderstood as a constant sales enablement component for business. But an approach to be able to make a potential consumer try a product for the first time. The subsequent consumption is solely dependent on quality of the product and the services associated with it.
Any amount of advertising is virtually useless to promote an inferior brand, importantly marketing cannot be blammed for not making an inferior product successful”
This is one of …

Oh Yes! The actual name is Olive Bar & Kitchen, one of those seemingly good restaurants run by someone who does not understand the basics of services business.
I was repeatedly told by my friends not to step into this Restaurant due to the quality of service they received in the past. But, after four years of living close to Olive – Bar and Kitchen, this evening I decided to give it a shot and check things on my own. Result, regretted every minute of my stay there as I was …

In the last six weeks, among the movies I watched (including ones in auditorium and DVDs), Happy Feet and Blood Diamond had something in common – A Direct Social Message.
Other than the fact that both are outstanding movies, they had a direct and strong social message. Mediums likes Movies and Television Serials have predominantly preferred a subtle approach to pass the social message (if any) on. But, like I said earlier these flicks decided to talk just straight.
Happy Feet theme was moving towards the problem caused by Illegal Fishing
Blood Diamond …

The much awaited cellular phone from Apple Inc. is finally out. Steve Jobs had unveiled iPhone in Macworld expo yesterday. Though the features and functionalities of the product would remain as promised, the name might not.
InfoGear, an IT/Communication company that was acquired by Cisco systems over half-a-decade ago registered iPhone trademark way back in late 90s. After the acquisition, Linksys, division of Cisco has enhanced the hardware and today its iPhone supports Skype directly.

Apple has been pursuing Cisco since the beginning of 2001 to gain rights over the brandname, but the attempt remained futile in the past. As a …

After too many misses, last evening I managed to watch The X-Files completely. At end of the movie, was laughing at my own self on how meaningless pre-conceived notions are.
For those who watched the movie (I assume most of you have), the first 10 minutes of the flick is on disconnected pieces of a larger puzzle – Cave men’s session with a green man, boy tripping into the ground, bomb blast in a multi-storey building et al.
As in the past, the sequence was boring and my friend had paused the player before …
